A brief look at the story of Hercules and his 12 labours - Comprehension activity
Task two is looking at verbs, adverbs and adjectives using the mystical beasts from Hercules. Students are asked to write their own descriptive sentences
Task 3 is writing a diary entry for Hercules and one of his labours
Task 4 and Task 5 look at two different myths and legends, students asked to identify verbs, adverbs and adjectives from the texts. I could not inlcude the texts due to copyright but the texts are hyperlinked in the slides
This can be used as part of a KS3/4 curriculum in English but has been made for AQA Step up to English lessons.

Students listen/read up to chapter 16- The night before Charlie goes to the Chocolate factory.
Students are asked to complete a diary entry as Charlie.

KS2/3/SEN
I have created a engaging and interactive revision booklet for GCSE students who are sitting their GCSE.
It is focused around the writing questions (section B of the exams) AO5/6
(it can be used for other exam boards also)
It is detailed and contains key information regarding both papers with various exam style activities to aid revision. Each paper is broken down and contains revision material
It also looks at the stages of PAF, Linguistic techniques SPAG
It contains up to 40 pages and would fill a weeks worth of lessons easily. This can also be printed for students to complete independently for homework/revision.
My students have found this a worthwhile booklet and it has helped them loads
It can be adapted to suit different abilities

Treasure Island- Robert Louis Stevenson
Creative writing task
Students read chapters 12- 13 where Jim and the crew see the island for the first time.
Two activities based on these chapters.
First activity -students draw the island from given description.
Second activity -students describe senses when they step on the island for the first time.
Can extend for HA students and get them to use adjectives and other linguistic techniques such as alliteration, metaphors, similes.
Resource/ writing frame for students to complete once read the book or watched the film.
Resource can be adapted to suit abilities.

PowerPoint activity
I used this resource for my AQA Step up to English lesson whilst studying The Railway Children but it can be adapted to fit any book or text.
For the purpose of this activity students read chapter 6 of the book and were then asked to create a comic strip detailing what happened during the chapter using onomatopoeia words and sequencing events.
Includes writing frame for comic and cut out comic art.
This resource can be adapted for GCSE and KS2/3
PowerPoint presentation that highlights what key features you need when writing newspaper articles. Some slides can be printed and used as props/posters/classroom display.

Small activity that can be done as a starter activity for an English lesson or PSHE lesson. Or it can be used in form time.
This activity is to get students thinking about their summer and what they would like to do/ recounting their summer.
Students can then use this as a prompt to write a recount, a diary entry or a short story.
